Unicaja secured a crucial victory, defeating Chalon 80-70 away in the fifth round of Group K in the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League.
Nihad Djedovic led the visitors to victory with 18 points, while James Webb also scored in double figures, adding 13 points. On the other side, Jeremiah Hill was the standout player with 20 points, and Matheo Leray contributed 14 points.
Unicaja held the lead for most of the game, even reaching a double-digit advantage at one point in the third quarter (56-45). Nevertheless, the hosts managed to rally and tie the game at 65-65, with four minutes to go, but they couldn’t go beyond that. The visitors put together a 7-0 run in the last three minutes, pulling away to secure the win and advance further.
Unicaja is now second in Group K with a 3-2 record, joining Joventut, who had secured a quarterfinal spot just minutes earlier. The two teams will face off in the final round to determine who advances from the first and second spots.
On the other hand, Chalon stands at 2-3, and due to a poorer head-to-head record against Unicaja, they can’t advance. They will play against Wurzburg in the final round.
