Joventut secured a victory in the 5th round match of Group K in the Round of 16 in the Basketball Champions League, defeating Wurzburg 91-84 on their home court.
This win marked a triumphant debut for Jabari Parker in the BCL, and they also secured a spot in the Quarterfinals. Parker shone in Joventut’s jersey, finishing the game with 15 points and nine rebounds. Only Cameron Hunt and Ante Tomic scored more, with 19 points each.
On the other hand, the visitors were not helped even by Marcus Carr, who scored 25 points. Davion Mintz added 14 points and Jonathan Stove had 13.
The hosts started the game excellently, winning the first quarter 34-19, making it seem like an easy victory was ahead.
However, the visitors had other plans. At the start of the second half, Wurzburg made a 20-5 run, completely getting back into the game (54-54). Still, Joventut managed to break the game in the final quarter and ultimately secure the win.
Joventut now has a 4-1 record and is at the top of Group K, with the most important achievement being their qualification for the Quarterfinals. On the other hand, Wurzburg is last with a 1-4 record, and the defeat in Badalona means they have no chance of advancing to the next phase of the competition.
