Virtus Bologna faces Brose Bamberg in the first semifinal of the 2019 Basketball Champions League Final Four that will take place in Antwerp this Friday.

Virtus coach Sasa Djordjevic spoke to Il Resto Del Carlino ahead of the big game, addressing the big challenge and the pride it brings for the Italian team.

“After 10 years, going back to playing in Europe is a beautiful thing, but above all, it is deserved. We have awareness and enthusiasm: it is not every day that we play for a trophy, we must all be proud of this. Certainly, an achievement deserved by the team, I am very proud of it. All this gives you a vision of where Virtus will be in the future, my mission is to grow together”.

Djordjevic knows that Brose Bamberg will be a tough opponent that is coming to the semifinal with the same goal as Virtus. “Bamberg is a tough, experienced team who also played in the Euroleague and won championships. The team is made up of experienced players, starting with Zisis, one of the top guards of the recent years. The Germans have so much talent in the guards with Zisis, Hickman and Rice. In any case, we must be aware of our means, and play with courage.”
