AEK Athens announced that the club and team captain Dusan Sakota have mutually agreed to terminate the player’s contract.

Sakota, 33, leaves AEK after a five-year stint. The forward helped the team win the 2018 Basketball Champions League title, the 2020 Intercontinental Cup title and the 2018 Greek Cup title.

“He has been a model of a professional athlete, particularly for younger generations,” AEK’s announcement mentions.

Sakota, a former EuroLeague champion with Panathinaikos in 2009, finished the 2018-2019 season averaging 11.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 24.8 minutes in the Basketball Champions League.
