Mornar keeps playoff hopes alive with rout over Nizhny

Mornar Bar started off the game against Nizhny Novgorod and eventually logged a convincing 87-66 home win in Basketball Champions League.

Despite a slow start of the season, Mornar is still in the playoff race. They improved to 3-7 with this win and secured a tiebreaker advantage (by one point) against Nizhny which now stands at a 6-4 record in Group C with four more Gamedays to go.

Milko Bjelica scored 16 points for the winning side followed by Jacob Pullen’s 14 and Lance Harris’ ten points.

For Nizhny, Darrlyn Willis banked game-high 22 points in addition to Michael Jenkins’ 12. Anton Astapkovich added six points but also grabbed 12 boards.

Mornar led 27-16 after the first quarter and kept the same distance by halftime (40-29). The Montenegrin side kept the control after the break as well with Nizhny not being able to cut the gap past a ten-point margin (47-37) and Mornar secured the win.
