Panathinaikos urging FIBA “to cooperate”

Panathinaikos became the first out of the 11 clubs with a ten year contract with Euroleague, which issued an announcement, urging FIBA to put an end to the conflict.

It’s a symbolic move, since Panathinaikos was the last team to sign with the new Euroleague project and when the division between FIBA and Euroleague started back in 2000, the club played for one season in FIBA’s Suproleague, before joing Euroleague in the 2001-02 season.

“Panathinaikos BC always operates for the good of basketball and helps every effort which can contribute to its growth and stability. In this context we express our full support to Euroleague and we urge FIBA to cooperate by putting an end to the warlike atmosphere they created.

The moments for the sport are crucial and we all have the duty to defend its stability and healthy operation. Conflict and “war” can’t lead to any solution and they are putting in danger the future of the sport in every level.

All those decisions have been taken after a specific procedure and after examining in detail every proposal. Those decisions can’t be negotiated”.
