Jakarta, Indonesia – France superstar Evan Fournier took the good old laconic, yet candid approach when he was asked to comment on the blowout 30-point loss of his team to Canada in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

“We got our ass kicked,” Fournier said in the post-game presser. No lies detected, to follow Fournier in his honesty.

While Fournier paints an accurate picture of what took place in the game it wasn’t that of a complete description. Naturally, he was asked to elaborate a bit further.

Fournier was specifically asked about the moment when Canada began building a lead on their way to utter dominance and the collapse of the French team.

“They were really physical with us,” Fournier commented. “Taking us out of our set plays. And as a team, I think they kind of forced us to do things that we don’t want to do. At first, we were able to score and our defense was solid.

The second quarter was the beginning of the downfall. Congrats to them, they played a great game.”

“You win. That’s it. Play better. Recharge and refocus. We lost by 30 but we are a great team. We know what we should do and we’ll bounce back in the next game.”

The game Fournier mentions will be against a Latvian team that routed Lebanon in their first appearance in World Championship history.

“Obviously we know that they don’t have Kristaps Porzingis,” Fournier mentioned. “They have multiple ball handlers and they shoot the ball well. We know it’s going to be a tough matchup for us. We have tonight and tomorrow to get ready for them.”
