The season of the Lakers ended with Luka Doncic missing the playoffs, and as he has announced, he will also miss the FIBA World Cup qualifiers with the Slovenian national team.

Just moments after the fourth defeat by the Thunder, the Slovenian superstar announced on his social media his summer plans.

As he wrote: “I love my daughters more than anything, and they will always come first in my life. As I continue working toward joint custody of my daughters, I have been forced to make a difficult decision between traveling and playing for the Slovenian national team and being with my daughters this summer. Unfortunately, it has been made extremely difficult for me to see them over the past eight months”.

“I have given everything to representing Slovenia, and I am disappointed that I will not be able to play for my country this summer. But right now, my daughters and my responsibilities as a father are my priority.”

The good news for Slovenia is that even without Doncic, they are currently leading the standings in Group H with a 3-1 record and they are expected to make it to the second round of the qualifiers without much drama.
