Satoransky, Vesely headline Czech Republic’s preliminary World Cup squad

The Czech Republic Basketball Federation announced the twenty players of Ronen Ginzburg’s initial list ahead of the 2019 FIBA World Cup. Preparations will start in late July, but Tomas Satoransky will be among the players to join on August 4th, according to the agreement between FIBA and NBA.

Aside Czech Republic’s NBA star, Patrik Auda, Ondrej Balvin, Jaromir Bohacik, Vojtech Hruban, Vit Krejci, Martin Kriz, Mishal Mares, Lukas Palyza, Martin Peterka, Viktor Pulpan, Pavel Pumprla, Simon Pursl, Blake Schilb, Petr Safarcik, Jakub Sirina, Jan Vesely and Tomas Vyoral made the cut alongside newcomers Jakub Tuma and Petr Herman.

Following a series of tune-up matches, the Czechs will kick off their World Cup campaign facing USA on September 1st. They will follow up going against Japan on September 3rd and Turkey on September 5th in Group E action at Shanghai.
