Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos with a score of 82-76 in front of their fans, taking a 1-0 lead in the Greek championship Finals.
After the match Ergin Ataman, the coach of Panathinaikos, addressed the media, clearly expressing his dissatisfaction.
This time, the 60-year-old Turkish coach didn’t just criticize the refereeing for the 29-5 free throws differential, but also lashed out at Greek and Serbian journalists for all the accusations against him.
“You know, in Turkey, there are many popular TV series. A lot of people watch them every week. And you Greeks like TV series as well. That’s how our Finals are: A soap opera!
What was the game result? 82-76? No, game result is 29-5! 29 free throws for Olympiacos with crucial ones in the last two minutes, and only 5 for us. But for you, Greek media, Serbian media, continue to write the same. Same things every week: Ataman is the worst coach in Europe and you have the best referees in the continent. Congratulations! That’s all!” he said, slammed his hand on the table, and left.
The final series is played to three wins, and the next match is scheduled at the Telekom Center, where Panathinaikos will be the host (Friday, 20:00 CEST).
