Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos with a score of 82-76 in front of their fans, taking a 1-0 lead in the Greek championship Finals.
Evan Fournier scored 20 points and provided five assists for the reigning European champions, Sasha Vezenkov added 16 points, while Nikola Milutinov achieved a double-double with 10 points and 12 assists.
On the other side, Cedi Osman had 23 points, Kendrick Nunn contributed 20, and Dinos Mitoglou scored 14.
Olympiacos continued their impressive run, defeating their major rival at the SEF to take a 1-0 lead in the finals series.
Oly played an excellent first half, achieving a double-digit lead, and after 20 minutes, Bartzokas’s team was up by 12 points (42-30).
However, Panathinaikos managed to make a comeback on the back of an incredible performance by Mitoglou, who hit four three-pointers in the third quarter. PAO even took the lead in the final quarter (65-64), but Oly maintained their composure, and Walkup’s three-pointer with 23 seconds left secured the victory for the hosts (80-73).
The final series is played to three wins, and the next match is scheduled at the Telekom Center, where Panathinaikos will be the host.
