The first venture of Xavi Pascual away from Spain was completed successfully with Panathinaikos winning both domestic titles in Greece: League and Cup.

Thus it came as small surprise that the Spanish coach was voted as “Best Coach” of the 2016/2017 Greek League by his peers, team captains, media and fans.

Pascual received 36% of the votes (10 out of 23 votes) by team captains and coaches and 42.6% (671 votes) in the voting by media and fans.

“It’s a great honor for me to be voted as the best coach in my first season in Greece,” said Pascual. “I want to thank the players and my team for this distinction. They deserve congratulations for what we accomplished. I also thank those who voted for me.”

Panathinaikos captain Nick Calathes was voted as MVP of the 2016/2017 Greek league after averaging 8.2 points, 5.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds in the regular season plus 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists in the playoffs.
