After one year break, Brose Baskets won again the German league after prevailing over the reigning champion Bayern Munich in Game 5 of the finals (88-84).

Brose Baskets was the absolute king of the German basketball for four straight seasons (2010-13), until Bayern Munich bounced back and won the title last season. However, coach Andrea Trinchieri led the team back to the summit in his first year in Germany.

The absolute hero of the hosts was Trevor Mbakwe who scored 20 points (7/9 2ps) and grabbed 13 rebounds conquering absolutely in the paint. Next to him there were four more players who scored double digits (Miller 12p, Strelnieks 11p, Theis 10p, Thompson 10p.).

On the other hand, Bayern was trailing from the start of the game, but in the last three minutes a great come back started. The visitors cut the lead to 2 points (86-84) after a partial score of 17-4, but John Bryant (16p, 6 rebs) and Staiger (12 points with 4/5 threes) couldn’t do more.

Brose Baskets celebrated the title with the Italian coach, Andea Trinchieri saying: “When I came to Germany I liked wine. Now I like to drink beer”. Point guard Brad Wanamaker was named the MVP of the German finals.
