Andrea Trinchieri has launched a new youth basketball project in Cremona as Vanoli transfered its LBA sporting rights to Rome, according to Pianeta Basket.
The move created uncertainty around Vanoli’s youth system, leading Trinchieri to work with local companies to secure financial support for approximately 250 young players and their families.
That initiative has now become A.T. Academy ASD, or Andrea Trinchieri Academy. The organization will build on the foundations of Vanoli Young and operate in collaboration with Cremona Pink. The project will include boys’ and girls’ youth teams, along with local minibasketball programs, and aims to provide a structured pathway for technical, physical and personal development.
Trinchieri began his senior head-coaching career with Triboldi in Cremona in 2004 and has maintained a close connection with the city. He will bring experience gained during spells with UNICS Kazan, Brose Bamberg, Partizan Belgrade, Bayern Munich and Zalgiris Kaunas, while he is currently leading a long-term project with PAOK in Greece.
Massimo Farioli is expected to oversee the boys’ program, while Cremonese Basket head coach Giulia Bona will lead the girls’ section. Marco Bergonzi and Luca Rodighiero are set to take key organizational roles.
The boys’ teams will train at PalaBosco in Bosco ex Parmigiano, where the parquet from the former PalaRadi has been installed. The academy is still searching for a facility in Cremona for its girls’ teams.
“In the coming days, we will reveal every detail of the project: its mission, activities, people and everything happening behind the scenes. Stay tuned, because the best is yet to come,” Bergonzi told La Provincia di Cremona.
The new academy will allow Vanoli’s youth development work to continue in Cremona under a separate identity despite the first team’s relocation.
