Ryan Broekhoff explained via a social media post why he did not make the trip to Orlando for the tournament planned by the NBA to resume and conclude the 2019-20 season. His focus is on his family.

Broekhoff, 29, was picked up by the Philadelphia organization in late June. However, he did not board the team flight to Orlando, site for all the remaining games of the season halted since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I am not with the 76ers right now in Orlando,” he confirmed and went on, “My wife who is high risk tested positive for COVID. We have a young son and my focus needs to be with my family at this time. I appreciate the 76ers for their support.”

The 76ers and the rest of the teams involved in the season-ending tournament are expected to scrimmage and play eight additional regular season games. The top eight sides from both conferences will progress to the playoffs.
