Rudy Gobert thinks use of bubble hotline is petty

It doesn’t like Rudy Gobert will be calling the NBA’s safety hotline. The Utah Jazz center doesn’t have the best idea for its use in general, calling it a “petty” thing.

“I don’t know if someone’s gonna use it, but I think it’s sort of petty,” Gobert said per ESPN. “At the same time, you want to make sure that people respect the rules.”

Gobert hopes that his fellow NBA players will behave themselves so there won’t be a need for anyone “snitching” on others. The All-Star big man and two-time DPOY, who was the first NBA player to test positive for coronavirus back in March, calls for caution.

“But I don’t think the line will really help at that point,” Gobert said. “I think it’s more about respecting each other and all do it as a small community. Everyone is pretty much educated about the virus at this point and it’s more about respect. At the same time, you want to make sure you socialize and do all those things, but still respecting each other’s space and try to wear the mask inside, especially when it’s crowded.”

The NBA established an anonymous safety tip line to report potential protocol violations that take place inside the Disney World bubble. There have been reports that the hotline has received “numerous” calls so far which resulted in players receiving warnings for their behavior.
