Anthony Davis moved to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019 to contend for an NBA championship. He got his team closer Sunday with a buzzer-beater for the 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals best-of-seven series opposite to the Denver Nuggets.

“For sure, the biggest shot in my career,” he admitted talking to reporters after Game 2, “I’ve never hit a game-winner like that before.”

The Lakers were wearing their special Kobe Bryant jerseys, co-designed by their Hall of Fame guard who died in a helicopter crash in January. After his game-winner, AD yelled “Kobe”.

“He hit countless shots like that to win a game in the regular season, playoffs, and finals,” recalled Davis, “It was a special one for me and my team, especially in a situation to go up 2-0. To do something like that in the jersey we wore tonight just makes it even more special.”

“It was a special moment for a special player,” proudly said teammate, LeBron James, “You are not going to hit them all. It’s not just making the shot, it’s having the belief and taking it for one, and living with the result.”

“That’s a shot Kobe Bryant would hit,” mentioned head coach Frank Vogel, “Just flying to the wing like that, catch-and-shoot with the biggest game on the line of our season, nothing but net, it’s a Mamba shot.”

Game 3 is planned to take place Tuesday.
