Amar’e Stoudemire agreed to a deal to join the Brooklyn Nets coaching staff as an assistant coach, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

He will meet long-time Phoenix Suns teammate and newly-appointed Nets head coach, Steve Nash, assuming his new role following a successful playing career including six NBA All-Star game berths.

Stoudemire, 37, competed in 924 NBA matches, including 78 playoffs tilts. Other professional ventures featured three stints in the Israeli League, including his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut last season, and one short run in China’s CBA.

He was reportedly nearing a deal for a return to Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. Giannis Sfairopoulos’ side addressing roster needs looked focused on bringing him back a few months after his Finals MVP showing resulting in the team’s latest domestic championship.
