In the bottom end of a successful career in Europe, Ante Tomic saw his NBA rights traded from the Utah Jazz to the New York Knicks as part of a deal landing the 23rd pick of the 2020 draft in New York in exchange for the 27th and the 38th picks.

The Jazz selected the veteran Croatian center in the 2008 draft and held on to his NBA rights the past twelve years before ultimately shipping them to the Knicks alongside their 2020 top pick. In return received two selections in the draft to be held in a few hours, Wednesday evening.

Tomic, 33, back in 2008 a promising upstart playing for Zagreb evolved into a household Turkish Airlines EuroLeague name staying away from the NBA. He appeared in 163 EuroLeague games between Spanish powerhouses, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, and last July moved on to Joventut Badalona.

He isn’t expected to join the Knicks.
