Despite the relatively quick turnaround to start the 2020-21 season, the anticipation for Luka Doncic getting back in action builds up, especially for the Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban. He talked about the Slovenian sensation in a recent appearance on the Danger Show, as relayed by Dan Cancian of Newsweek.com.

“He can pass the ball, see from the top, get where he wants from the court. Knows how to pass to guys on time and on target,” said, Cuban, “Clutch player in crunch time. [He] will take on responsibility against anybody, anytime. Great teammate. Fun Kid. Magic will light things up with a smile, Luka’s the same way for the Mavs. He’s got that charisma that Magic has.”

Doncic, 21, will be going through his third NBA season with the training camp just around the corner and the Regular Season to begin in three weeks. If his first two campaigns were any indication, he is set to take the NBA by storm in the following seasons. The point of comparison here was his style of play, but his NBA playoffs experience is still extremely limited.

Following being eliminated in six games in the first round of the postseason in the Orlando bubble, the Mavericks look ready for the next step, at least on paper and in regard to early NBA championship odds ranking them among the contenders. Magic Johnson in a very different situation back in 1980 captured the title in his rookie season and went on for a total of five championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.
