The 2021 NBA Finals are shifting to Fiserv Forum. Ahead of Game 3 with the Milwaukee Bucks hosting the Phoenix Suns Sunday, Giannis Antetokounmpo discussed the importance of directly competing for the NBA championship for the first time.

“Obviously, we know we are in the Finals. We might not talk about it, but we all understand what kind of games we are going into,” he pointed out during Saturday’s pregame media availability, “It’s still basketball. You have to try to approach it that way. You have to keep the ball and the atmosphere light.”

Recovering from injury, the Greek superstar has jumped out with 31.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.5 steals per contest through Game 1 and Game 2. However, the Bucks are down 2-0 heading to two consecutive home fixtures.

“Personally, I know when I enjoy things, I put my heart into it. When I don’t I just go through the motions,” he added displaying his approach to the next game, “We have gone a long way to get in this position.”

Only four teams have overturned a 2-0 deficit in the NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, Miami Heat in 2006, Portland Trail Blazers in 1977, and the Boston Celtics in 1969. On the other end, a 3-0 advantage remains unscratched throughout NBA Playoffs history.
