Garuba reportedly reaches agreement with Real Madrid for buyout to join the Rockets

Usman Garuba has reached an agreement with Real Madrid to pay the €3M buyout clause on his contract and is ready to join the Houston Rockets, as it was reported by Marca.

Per the report, Garuba will pay the contract termination clause in installments. The 19-year-old Spanish big was selected with the 23rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Rockets and is ready to leave Madrid for the first time in his career.

A EuroLeague Rising Star for 2021, Garuba averaged 3.9 points, 4 rebounds in 16:17 minutes across 39 contests this past season, and his numbers went up to 5.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists in 18 minutes in the Spanish Liga Endesa. The Spanish big also earned the domestic league honors for best young player of the season, and has lifted the Liga Endesa title in 2019.
