Johnny O’Bryant, Jahlil Okafor released

The Milwaukee Bucks have waived Johnny O’Bryant III, the team announced.

Per the Bucks: “The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on forward Johnny O’Bryant. Signed on Sept. 29, O’Bryant appeared in two preseason games with the Bucks, totaling eight points and three rebounds in 21 minutes.”

O’Bryant, 28, was coming off three seasons in Europe, including stints in the Basketball Champions League, Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, and 7DAYS EuroCup. Following 148 appearances in the NBA, he spent the 2018-19 season at Maccabi Tel Aviv, and from there moved to Lokomotiv Kuban, Crvena Zvezda mts, and Turk Telekom.

The former Louisiana State standout was selected with the 36th overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Further in his career, he joined the Denver Nuggets and Charlotte Hornets prior to returning to the Bucks aiming to secure a spot in the 2021-22 Regular Season roster.

About one month after being waived by the Brooklyn Nets, Jahlil Okafor was cut by the Atlanta Hawks, the team announced.

Okafor. 25, was the third pick of the 2015 NBA draft. He has since made his way to 247 NBA matches between the Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, and Nets.

Elsewhere, Croatian Luka Samanic was waived by the San Antonio Spurs. The Chicago Bulls announced their decision to cut Daniel Oturu and Ethan Thompson. Both players were signed on Exhibit 10 contracts.

French small forward Jaylen Hoard will pen an Exhibit 10 contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, reports Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman. The former Wake Forest standout will return to the franchise after playing in 19 games of the 2020-21 season. He also logged 13 games played at the Portland Trail Blazers in 2019-20. The Thunder previously confirmed requesting waivers on guard Rob Edwards.
