Giannis Antetokounmpo: It’s too early to worry about the championship

The Milwaukee Bucks completed their pre-season with a loss to Dallas Mavericks on Friday and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo tackled the pressure (or lack thereof) of being the defending champions of the league.

“You want to repeat that feeling, but it’s a lot of steps you got to do in order for you to get there. Worrying about the championship on October 15th, it’s still too early. For someone that for the last couple of years has been in good teams and we’ve always competed hard and played through the regular season, I’ve realized it’s too early to worry about that”, said Giannis who posted a double-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds in the pre-season finale despite the defeat.

Antetokounmpo focused on day-to-day improvement, although he wants to experience the feeling of the finals again.

“Now that you know the feeling you want to repeat that feeling. You know, being down 2-0, coming back 2-0 in the series, being up to close the series playing in the finals, the atmosphere, the fans, people cheering. If I worry right now about a championship…  not necessary. I only worry about getting better as a team, being better than what we are tonight”, Antetokounmpo further reporters after the game.
