The Dallas Mavericks suffered a tough 113-87 defeat by the Atlanta Hawks on the road in their season-opener, though Mavs superstar Luka Doncic doesn’t worry too much about the result of this game.

“I think we played terrible,” Doncic told reporters in the post-game press conference. “It was our first game, we’ve got a new coach, a lot of new coaching staff, two new players.”

“We’ll be fine, but today was a terrible day. We couldn’t make anything. We’ve got 81 to go, so nothing to worry about. Atlanta has just been excellent in defense and we weren’t at that level […] In my eyes, we had open shots, but indeed I could create better opportunities for my teammates. Sometimes I’ll have to score, others I’ll have to create.”.

Doncic scored 18 points, along with 11 rebounds and 7 assists, but faced a lot of trouble against Hawks’ De’Andre Hunter’s tough defense on Thursday night.

“De’Andre Hunter played a hell of defense tonight. He’s a great player and I think he will have a bright future”, commented Doncic.
