New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has been cleared to participate in full team activities, the franchise announced Friday. Williamson missed the start of the season after suffering a foot fracture in the off-season for which he underwent surgery. To this day, there is no timetable for his return to action, even though there is significant progress.

The upgrade in Williamson’s status came after he underwent testing on his right foot Wednesday and he was cleared for expanded work in practice. Williamson had his first full-court work practice this Friday and according to the team he will “continue his progression towards returning to play”.

The initial estimations for his return mentioned he would be able to return by October 20, though his rehabilitation period has exceeded this timeframe.

The Pelicans have lost 16 of their first 20 games without 2020 All-Star Williamson. He was the face of the franchise in the 2020-21 campaign, posting an average of 27 points per game.
