Rudy Gobert praises Devin Booker’s defense

Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert commented on what he sees as a lack of winning culture by his team in comparison with Western Conference rivals Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors while saying the best about the defensive effort that Devin Booker puts on the court.

“I watch some of these other teams like the Suns or Warriors, those guys are a step ahead of us in terms of winning habits…Devin Booker is playing his ass off defensively…Guys like that, they buy in, and you can tell they take pride in playing defense,” Gobert said per The Salt Lake Tribune reporter Eric Walden.

Gobert is a player who definitely knows one thing or two about defense and can recognize a good defensive input when he sees one. The French big man is a three-time NBA DPOY (2018, 2019, 2021) and a frontrunner to win it this season as well.

Now he is back after testing positive for COVID-19 and entered the protocols on January 6. He’s expecting to return to action Sunday (16/1) in a big Western Conference against the Denver Nuggets.

During Gobert’s absence, the Jazz went 1-4 and allowed 118.6 points with a poor defensive rating of 120.8 during these five matches. They ven lost to NBA stragglers Detroit Pistons who had just eight wins before they faced Utah.
