The Denver Nuggets are signing center DeMarcus Cousins for the rest of the 2021-22 season according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Cousins had joined Denver on a 10-day contract on January 22.

Cousins, 31, averaged 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds over eight games with the Nuggets prior to the expiration of his 10-day deal last weekend. Denver won all eight matches in which the former four-time All-Star big man made an appearance.

Nuggets coach Mike Malone had said that he found it beyond weird that Cousins was available for days after the Milwaukee Bucks waived him in January. “This guy after playing really well in Milwaukee was sitting at home waiting for his phone to ring,” Malone had mentioned “That’s crazy to me. I don’t know if people are scared of him or what. But I’m not scared of him. I love him.” Cousins previously played under Malone on the Sacramento Kings in 2013-2014.
