The Denver Nuggets have been hoping that guard Jamal Murray will be up and running before the current season is over. With almost a month remaining in the 2021-22 regular season, the Canadian star’s status apparently remains quite uncertain.

According to a report by the Denver Post, at this moment it’s “50-50” whether Murray’s comeback will happen this season or if it will be postponed for the next campaign. And it’s totally up to him to make the call when he feels that his body is completely ready.

Murray last played on April 12, during a Nuggets’ loss to the Golden State Warriors. It was late in this match that he suffered a torn ACL injury that has kept him out for nearly a year.

Before he got hurt, Murray was having his top season in the NBA, averaging career-highs 21.2 points and 4.8 assists. His absence shrouded the Nuggets’ 2021 postseason with a big “What If?” since, with Murray on board, the team could potentially have a deeper run in the playoffs. Denver was swept 4-0 by the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference semifinals.

While Murray’s return this season remains questionable, the Nuggets will at least be getting Michael Porter Jr. back before the playoffs. The 23-year-old forward is looking to return sometime in March after recovering from back surgery.

Denver is currently 40-27 and sitting sixth in the Western Conference standings.
