Lillard: I’m not going to fight them on wanting to trade me

Damian Lillard doesn’t believe that the Portland Trail Blazers would make a move to trade him but if such a thing happens, he won’t stand in the way.

“If they came to me and they wanted to trade me – I’m not going to fight them on wanting to trade me. I don’t want to be anywhere I’m not wanted. But I don’t think that’s the case,” Lillard said when asked by CNBC if he would accept a trade.

Several NBA teams have been reported to be interested in acquiring Lillard and waiting for the player to possibly ask the Blazers to be moved to another franchise. The rumors became even more intense after the 31-year-old superstar guard underwent abdominal surgery in January and it began to get clear that he will likely miss the rest of the season.

Lillard himself has affirmed his loyalty to the Blazers time and again, saying in particular that the only thing he cares about is winning a championship with Portland.

“Everybody is like, ‘He’s going to do this. He’s going to do that,’” Lillard said to CNBC. “But the game is so watered down, and the game is so fugazi (fake) that people literally won’t believe what you say even if you say it directly to them.”
