Before the Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Lakers 123-109 on the 2022-23 NBA opening night, the reigning champions were awarded in the Ring Ceremony for their success in the 2021-22 season.

Every member of last year’s team was celebrated with the NBA ring, the 7th in the franchise’s history. Meanwhile, the fourth championship banner since 2015 was lifted up high, but it was the first one to appear for the first time in the Chase Center, which was inaugurated in 2019.

During the Ring Ceremony, the Curry-Thompson-Green-Iguodala quartet was celebrated with their fourth ring, but there was time for the ones who got their first NBA championship as well, after beating the Boston Celtics in 2021-22.

Among them, there were Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and Juan Toscano-Anderson, who now plays for the Lakers.

Steph Curry decided to use this platform to take a moment for Brittney Griner: “We want to continue to let her name be known and we pray, it’s been 243 days since she has been wrongfully incarcerated in Russia”, the Golden State leader said.

Talking about the championship ring details, as reported by Sports Illustrated, it was designed by Jason of Beverly Hills and it features:

  • 16 carats of yellow and white diamonds set into yellow gold, representing Golden State’s 16 wins in last season’s playoffs.
  • 7 carats of yellow cushion cut diamonds on its bezel, representing the Warriors’ seven NBA titles.
  • 43 baguettes on the Golden Gate bridge logo to represent Curry recording 43 points in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

Moreover, architectural details of the Chase Center can be seen, as well as the game scores of each series of Golden State’s playoff run. Finally, there are the seven Larry O’Brien trophies and the Warriors’ motto: “Just Us”.
