The NBA star Kyrie Irving’s controversial tweet created a backlash in the US and the NBPA, where the Brooklyn Nets player serves as a member of the board (vice-president), responded with an official statement.

“Anti-Semitism has no place in our society. The NBPA is focused on creating an environment where everyone is accepted. We are committed to helping players fully understand that certain words can lead to hateful ideologies being spread. We will continue to work on identifying and combating all hate speech wherever it arises”, was written in the NBPA public statement.

While it’s obvious to whom the statement is referring, Kyrie Irving was not mentioned by name.

Irving tweeted a link to an anti-Semitic film, and after he was condemned by Brookly Nets owner Joe Tsai and the NBA in public statements, where his name also wasn’t mentioned, he deleted it.
