Interviewed by Mundo Deportivo, Usman Garuba talked about his role in this year’s Houston Rockets. The Spanish 20-year-old big is currently averaging 3.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 14.2 minutes on the court, but the franchise told him his time will come.

“They told me that if I played as in the EuroBasket, with that intensity, I would be playing minutes and it is what I am doing, trying to give everything on the court and improving, knowing that I can give more and improve and be ready for everything”, he said when asked what Stephen Silas is asking him to do.

The former Real Madrid also talked about his fellow-countryman Santi Aldama, more than the Hernangomez brothers. “Santi has adapted very well to the team and they are giving him opportunities, I am happy for him. And Juancho and Willy I hope they have opportunities later. The season is long, we just started, and there are about 70 games left, it’s still early and everything can happen. You have to be ready for anything”, he said.

Finally, Usman Garuba revealed his inspirational figure in the NBA. “I want to be the player like Draymond Green”, he added.
