Inking a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks in July, Tyler Dorsey has been a treat for G League affiliate Texas Legends, early in the 2022-23 season.

Dorsey, 26, made out yet another career-high scoring total with 47 points in the loss, 138-135, to Birmingham Squadron at Legacy Arena at the BJCC Tuesday. Punching in a new G League season record for the most points in a single game, he connected 16/27 field goals, including eight triples.

On a hot streak, the member of Greece’s senior national team has made his way to 12 games of the G League season. Averaging 24.8 points per contest helped the Legends off to a 6-7 start. In the lone NBA outing of the season so far, he logged four minutes of action and squeezed in nine points in a blowout win against the Memphis Grizzlies on 22 October.

Coming out of Oregon in 2017, Dorsey was selected with the 41st overall pick of the NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. He played in 104 NBA games between the Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies stretched from 2017-18 to 2018-19. Moving his talents overseas, he spent two years at Maccabi Tel Aviv and the last season at Olympiacos. Featured in 100 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, winning domestic titles in both Israel and Greece and gaining valuable experience, the path before returning to the NBA.

Linked to Greece by his mother’s family, the playing relationship stretches all the way back to the 2015 U19 World Championship. Promoted to the senior national team, he competed in last summer’s EuroBasket, besides additional caps in the 2019 and 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
