Many great stories were written in the world’s most famous arena, the Madison Square Garden, and one of them is still being written, with Knicks’ organist Ray Castoldi being in the center of it.

He’s been working behind the scenes at MSG for 34 years, playing those iconic organ riffs in-between plays.

I’m the biggest fan—the biggest cheerleader. I’m the fan who has all the loud equipment to make noise in the arena,” Castoldi said.

Many fans weren’t aware that the real person is playing those upbeat melodies in real-time, which makes the experience in the Garden a special one.

Fewer percentage of the fans than Id like to thing,” Ray added.

The Phantom of the Garden, as he was nicknamed, is more than just a Knicks’ organist. He released a few deep house records on his label X-Ray Records.
