It’s just time“, Bob Myers explained to ESPN his decision to step down as president and general manager of the Golden State Warriors after 12 years.

Architect of four NBA championships with Warriros, and a two-time executive of the year declined offers on a new deal that would’ve made him one of the NBA’s top-earning executives.

Myers is set to speak at a news conference scheduled for Tuesday from 10 p.m. CET, in San Francisco.

With Myers’ departure, Warriors owner Joe Lacob is expected to seek more prominent roles for his son, Kirk, an executive VP of Basketball Operations, and VP of Basketball Operations Mike Dunleavy Jr, per ESPN.

The 48-year-old joined Golden State in April 2011 as an assistant general manager, and the Warriors reached the NBA Finals six times in Myers’ 11 seasons as GM.
