The NBA launched an investigation into the allegations made against Oklahoma City Thunder’s Josh Giddey. Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Michael Bass updated the current status of the Australian swingman on Friday.

Giddey, 21, has been pictured in videos and photos with an underage girl Livv Cook, initially shared on social media by the minor on Wednesday night.

Before the reaction of the league spokesman, Giddey declined to comment on the situation, heading to Friday’s team practice. “I understand the question, obviously, but there’s no further comment right now,” he replied to a question during a media session.

“I get the question guys, I completely understand you guys want to know about it,” he added, “Just for right now, I don’t have anything to say.”

“Personal matter, and I have no comment on it,” was a similar reaction by head coach Mark Daigneault, “And that will be my answer on anything related.”

Barring any developments, the Melbourne native is expected to continue featuring for the Thunder in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season. Part of the NBA Sundays schedule, his side resumes action by facing the Philadelphia 76ers in Paycom Center.

In his third NBA campaign since being picked up with the sixth selection of the 2021 draft, he is averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest over 15 appearances. At 11-4, the Thunder are currently tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves on top of the Western Conference table.
