Juan Nunez opts in for the 2024 NBA draft

Adding to the list of European upstarts, Juan Nunez announced his decision to declare for the 2024 NBA draft on Friday.

Nunez, 19, joined French Melvin Ajinca, Spanish Izan Almansa, Montenegrin Luka Bogavac, Latvian Roberts Blums, Lithuanian Matas Buzelis, French Pacome Dadiet, Serbian Nikola Djurisic, French Mohamed Diawara, Dutch Jesse Edwards, North Macedonian Andrej Jakimovski, Croatian Andrija Jelavic, Swedish Plle Larsson, Slovakian Timotej Malovec, Serbian Bogoljub Markovic, French Noah Penda, French Zaccharie Risacher, French Tidjane Salaun, French Alexandre Sarr, Ukrainian Max Shulga, Serbian Nikola Topic, French Armel Traore, and British Amari Williams on the list of draft candidates from Europe. Early entries can withdraw and retain draft eligibility until June 16.

The annual draft expanding to two days sets all first-round picks to be announced in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on June 26. Second-round picks follow on June 27 in ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in Manhattan. The youth product of Real Madrid is projected to be selected late in the first round by several mock drafts.

After departing the storied club based in the capital of Spain carrying ten appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Nunez joined ratiopharlm Ulm. He contributed to the German club being crowned easyCredit BBL champion for the first time in team history in 2023 and logged 35 games played in the 7DAYS / BKT EuroCup, besides playing for Spain in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and electing to skip entering his name into consideration for last year’s NBA draft.
