In his fourth game overall—and his second without a minutes restriction—Luka Dončić put on a show for the Los Angeles Lakers.
He was three assists shy of a triple-double, scoring at will and smiling throughout the game. As he admitted afterward, he finally feels like himself again.
“I’m finally feeling like myself a little bit. Playing this game—this is what I love. Just finally being myself a little bit, so that’s why I was smiling the whole game,” Dončić said in the postgame interview.
LeBron James spoke about his connection with the Slovenian star, calling him a “natural-born quarterback.”
“I think we still have a lot of room for improvement. This is my fourth game, so chemistry takes time. We saw today that it’s getting better, and it’s going to keep improving every day.”
Dončić also reflected on the past few weeks since his historic and unexpected trade from Dallas to Los Angeles.
“It was hard. Different. But you know, I’m happy to be playing basketball. Like I said, every day it’s going to get better. I’m happy to be here. Clearly, these guys are incredible, so I’m excited for this new journey,” Dončić concluded.
