Joel Embiid is out for the season, and the situation for the Philadelphia 76ers is looking pretty grim. However, they are not giving up without a fight.
Led by an incredible Quentin Grimes, they took down the Golden State Warriors at home, 126-119, while Guerschon Yabusele played a key role as well.
The Frenchman scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out five assists, hitting a clutch three-pointer in the final minutes and pushing his side over the hump. The former Real Madrid player shot 5-7 from beyond the arc, but the story of the game was Grimes’ career-high 44 points.
On the other side, Steph Curry had a great game with 29 points and 13 assists, while Dutch international Quinten Post followed with 16 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for the Warriors.
Besides Yabusele, a couple of other French players had a good night as well, with Bilal Coulibaly leading the Washington Wizards to a 113-100 road win over the Charlotte Hornets.
He scored 17 points with seven rebounds, while his compatriot Alex Sarr added 10 points. KyShawn George followed with eight points and eight rebounds. Two other Frenchmen played for the losing side but didn’t have much of an impact, as Moussa Diabate scored four points while Tidjane Salaun remained scoreless.
Killian Hayes continued fighting for a place with the Brooklyn Nets but had just four points, four rebounds, and three assists in a 115-94 defeat to the Detroit Pistons away from home. Dennis Schröder scored seven with five assists for the winning team.
De’Aaron Fox handed the San Antonio Spurs a 130-128 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, scoring the game-winning points with 1.8 seconds on the clock, while Polish international Jeremy Sochan recorded a double-double of 18 points and 11 boards.
Santi Aldama also had a great game for the losing team, finishing just two rebounds shy of a triple-double with 15 points and 11 assists.
