Luka Doncic breaks down barriers on top-selling NBA jerseys

A new era launched by the Luka Doncic trade extended into the most recent NBA update on the top-selling jerseys.

On Monday, the league released the list of players with the most popular jerseys for the 2024-25 season alongside the team merchandise list, the most-viewed plays, and the most-viewed players throughout the Regular Season.

The Slovenian superstar of the Los Angeles Lakers emerged as the first international player to rank first on the top-selling jerseys list. He is the first player other than Stephen Curry or LeBron James to top the list since the 2012-13 season. Since being traded away from the Dallas Mavericks, jersey sales on NBAStore.com increased 21% compared to the same period of the 2023-24 season.

With Lakers teammate James first, Doncic sat third in the list of most-viewed players on social and digital platforms. The popularity of the franchise, combined with its retention of first place on the top-selling merchandise list.

Furthermore, French Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs ranked sixth on the top-selling jerseys list, with Serbian Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets in tenth place and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks in the eleventh spot.

Per the press release: “The most-viewed plays across NBA social and digital platforms for the 2024-25 regular season were two acrobatic layups by the Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant in a game against the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 4 (286M views). No. 2 on the list was the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry executing a behind-the-back crossover and finish vs. the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 28, which generated 136M views.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James (3.23B views), Curry (2.56B views) and the Lakers’ Luka Dončić (1.82B views) topped the list of the most-viewed players on NBA social and digital platforms during the regular season. The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tripled his total view count from last season with 1.06 billion views.
