The Phoenix Suns have exercised the $8.1 million team option on Serbian guard Vasilije Micić, as first reported by Keith Smith.

The move clears the way for Phoenix to finalize a reported draft-night trade with the Charlotte Hornets involving center Mark Williams.

Although it was previously expected that the Suns would decline Micić’s option, the pending deal shifted the situation. Now, with his contract fully guaranteed, the Hornets control Micić’s future.

It remains unclear whether Charlotte intends to keep the 30-year-old guard on the roster. A waiver is still possible, which could open the door for a EuroLeague return, where Micić has long been linked to several top clubs.

Micić launched his NBA career in 2023–24, appearing in 60 games split between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Hornets. He averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game with the Hornets during 2024/25 campaing, before a midseason trade to Phoenix, where he played limited minutes.
