In the opener of the California Classic Summer League 2025, Kasparas Jakucionis struggled with the Miami Heat.
In a win, 82-69, against the San Antonio Spurs in San Francisco’s Chase Center, the 19-year-old Lithuanian combo guard was limited to 1/7 field goals, including 0/4 three-pointers, besides one assist and one rebound, combined with three turnovers. Under the guidance of Eric Glass, he lasted 22 minutes.
“Today was my first game and it was different,” he mentioned following his debut, relays the Miami Herald, “The game style and everything is different. But I’m happy with the team’s performance. I think we played pretty good. We had good effort, we shared the ball well and we played as a team.”
An Illinois player during the 2024-25 NCAA season, coming out of the youth division of FC Barcelona, Jakucionis went into the 20th spot of the 2025 NBA Draft presented by State Farm.
“I can adapt to on the ball or off the ball pretty well, I think,” he reacted to playing at the one and two positions on Saturday, “I feel comfortable in both areas and just try to get the best out of myself to help the team win in any situation I’m put in.”
“Just energy, communication, being aggressive and just give all-out effort,” he added, talking about the plan moving forward in the Summer League.
The Lithuanian guard has already signed a rookie contract with the Heat, heading to a roster spot at the top of the 2024-25 Regular Season.
