Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams has agreed to a five-year rookie max extension that could be worth up to $287 million, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 24-year-old forward is coming off a breakout season where he earned All-NBA and All-Defensive team honors, averaging 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.
Despite suffering a torn wrist ligament late in the season, Williams played through the injury and played a key role in helping OKC win its first NBA title, including a standout 40-point performance in Game 5 of the Finals.
With this deal, Oklahoma City has now committed a combined $822 million to its young Big 3 — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($285M), Chet Holmgren ($250M), and Williams — signaling a long-term push to remain title contenders through the decade.
The Thunder, despite heavy investments, remain under the luxury tax for now and maintain flexibility for the future, with a mix of team-friendly contracts and a deep stockpile of draft picks.
