With the Los Angeles Lakers in a demanding stretch of the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season, amid a five-game road trip, Luka Doncic revisited his relationship with the Dallas Mavericks after the organization decided to move on from the president of basketball operations and general manager Nico Harrison on Tuesday.

“The city of Dallas, the fans, the players, they always have a special place in my heart. And I thought I was going to stay there forever, but I didn’t. So, there will always be a special place for me where I can call home. But right now I am focused on the Lakers, trying to move on. Obviously, there is going to be a part of me in there. I am just trying to move on, focus on what we are doing here,” said the 26-year-old Slovenian combo guard after a losing effort against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Paycom Center on Wednesday.

“Right now, I’m just focused on the Lakers. No further comments,” he stressed, replying to another question on the Mavs, his team from 2018 until the stunning trade orchestrated by Harrison in February.

Meanwhile, JJ Redick’s side was forced down to 8-4 by the defending champions.

“They started the year even better, I think. So, it’s a big motivation to see how they play, and try to stop them,” mentioned Doncic on looking to catch up with the Thunder.

Completing the road trip, the Lakers face the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday and the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
