Representatives from both the Spanish Congress and the Parliament of Catalonia have formally raised questions to local, regional, and national authorities regarding the proposed NBA Europe project, signaling growing political scrutiny of the initiative.

The move aligns with a previously submitted official question in the European Parliament, suggesting that concerns about the potential arrival of an NBA-backed competition in Europe are spreading across multiple levels of the political ecosystem.

In the Catalan Parliament, deputy Lluís Mijoler Martínez submitted a written request asking the regional government to clarify its position and provide details on the NBA Europe project.

Meanwhile, in Spain’s national parliament, deputies Viviane Ogou i Corbi and Nahuel González López presented questions focusing on the potential impact that the implementation of NBA Europe could have on the existing national competition structure.

Their inquiry also addresses possible effects on competitive balance among clubs and on the development of grassroots and youth basketball in Spain.

Together, these parliamentary initiatives reflect increasing institutional attention to how the NBA Europe project might reshape the European basketball landscape, from elite competitions to the foundations of the sport.
