The NBA named the four honorary head coaches for the 2026 Castrol Rising Stars on Tuesday.
A trio of Hall of Fame players in Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady joined Austin Rivers on the official list to take over one team apiece in the upcoming mini-tournament.
Specifically, first- and second-year NBA players will be drafted into three teams on January 27, and a fourth team will be comprised of players competing in the G League. During the All-Star festivities, the tournament will be held at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on February 13.
Beyond the Rising Stars, Friday’s All-Star schedule stretches to Kia Forum with the NBA HBCU Classic Presented by AT&T and the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. On Saturday, the Slam Dunk, 3-Point Contest, and more will be held in Intuit Dome, with the 75th annual exhibition between the top players in the league following in Intuit Dome on Sunday, February 15.
The All-Star Game will be contested in a mini-tournament with three teams, two with American players and one with international players. Each team will consist of at least eight players.
Five starters from each conference, which will eventually split into three separate sides, will be decided based on fan voting by 50%, NBA players by 25%, and a media panel by 25%. The remaining seven players from each conference will be selected by a vote among NBA head coaches. If the process does not complete the rosters with 16 American and eight international players, commissioner Adam Silver will decide on the necessary additions.
