In a recent interview with People Magazine, Stephen Curry definitively shut down retirement rumors.

“It’ll declare itself, whenever the time comes to call it quits, which I don’t think is anytime soon,” noted the 37-year-old point guard of the Golden State Warriors. “I’m not really putting too much pressure on that.”

“Thinking about the end robs you of the now,” he added. “I’m enjoying the journey of competing and all the work that goes into it. Hopefully that carries me a long way.”

The Akron native has remained a franchise cornerstone since being selected seventh overall in the 2009 NBA draft out of Davidson. Over nearly two decades, he has revolutionized the game, capturing four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022, and leading Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Despite reaching the veteran stage of his career, the league’s all-time three-point leader shows no signs of regression.

“Every time you do something cool, it’s like, ‘Oh, you’re the oldest to do such and such’ or ‘You’re the oldest point guard to fill in the blank,’” explained Curry. “So I wear all of those things like a badge of honor, because I know how much work goes into it, to play this game that I love.”

In the 2025-26 Regular Season, he continues to dominate, averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game across 39 appearances, helping the Warriors reach a 29-26 record at the All-Star break. With a contract extension keeping him in the Bay Area through 2027 and making him the highest-paid player in the league, Curry remains fully committed to the present, proving that his legendary run is far from over.
