After recording a massive triple-double to propel the Denver Nuggets past the Los Angeles Lakers at Ball Arena, Nikola Jokic remained characteristically grounded regarding his team’s championship aspirations. When asked how the victory bolsters Denver’s title bid, the Serbian center offered a measured perspective, stating, “I think our goal needs to be like be in the best possible spot in the standings and try to win every game and play every game as a playoff game.”

Despite facing one of the NBA’s most physically aggressive defensive schemes, the Nuggets maintained control from start to finish on Thursday. The Serbian superstar attributed this success to offensive patience, explaining, “We didn’t force it. I think that’s the best way.” While he praised their collective ball-sharing, he remained self-critical about his own execution under pressure, noting, “I just need to read a little bit better in those situations… and try to make a better pass or better read.”

Defensively, the Joker highlighted the Nuggets’ evolution since the midseason break. He agreed that their half-court execution has tightened, explaining, “We want to dictate what offense is going to do… our defense is much better since the All-Star.”

The evening was also historic for the opposition, as LeBron James became the NBA’s all-time leader in field goals. Jokic offered high praise for the 41-year-old veteran, calling him a “really, really, really legendary player” and marveling at his longevity. “He’s still influencing the game, and teams are still preparing for him,” he noted.

Following his 28-point, 13-assist, and 12-rebound performance, shaping his 23rd triple-double in the 2025-26 Regular Season, the Nuggets moved to a 39-24 record as they prepare to complete a back-to-back at home and host the New York Knicks on Friday.
