A dominant Victor Wembanyama propelled the San Antonio Spurs to a commanding 145-120 victory over the Houston Rockets at the Frost Bank Center this past Sunday. The French center proved an insoluble puzzle for the visitors, delivering a highlight-heavy performance that finished with 29 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting, including two conversions from beyond the arc.

In just 30 minutes of action, the 22-year-old phenom showcased his multifaceted impact, adding eight rebounds, four blocks, two steals, and an assist to his tally. During the postgame press conference, Wembanyama noted that several elements ‘clicked’ early on. “It was about figuring out their adjustments, what they were trying to do, and deciding to hurt them elsewhere,” he said.

Under the guidance of coach Mitch Johnson, the Spurs controlled the tempo, at one point ballooning their lead to a 30-point advantage. Despite his individual brilliance, the Frenchman remained focused on team cohesion.

“Sometimes, I feel like I can go like four minutes straight without touching the ball. I can still find ways to impact the game and make my teammates better,” mentioned Wemby on the impact of his off-ball movement and defensive gravity. “These guys are trustworthy. I can trust them to make the right play, trust them to play unselfishly.”

The Spurs jumped to 47-17 in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season, while their Texas rivals fell to 39-24. Starting opposite the Le Chesnay native, Turkish center Alperen Sengun recorded 16 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes of play. Additionally, Swiss backup Clint Capela contributed two points and two blocks during his 14-minute stint.
